Zermatt has rapidly re-opened terrain after having to close all of its slopes and the access railway line a week ago due to the exceptionally high avalanche danger.
As of today 311km of the resort’s 350km of piste are open – so almost 90% – with 42 of 52 lifts operational. With sunny skies, conditions are great.
Snow depths are a very snowsure 1.5m (five feet) down in the resort and more than double that up top.
It has been a little warm at village level (up to 5C) the past few days but it’s back to sub-zero for the week ahead with moderate snowfall currently forecast later this week, but more sunny days too.
