Few can agree on the world’s greatest ski resort, but it’s undeniable that Aspen is definitely one of the world’s most famous. With a reputation for unparalleled wealth and exceptional skiing, it’s no surprise that this resort tops most skiers’ bucket lists.
In Snowmass, great skiing spans four mountains, serviced by a world-class lift system and a whole host of unique and entertaining off-slope activities. Underground locomotive pulled silver mine tour after a day on the mountain? Why on earth not!
Aspen Mountain, sometimes known as ‘Ajax’ is one of the four ski areas shared by the Aspen and Snowmass communities, and is the resort’s ‘signature ski area’, located directly above the historic ski town. This area has also recently announced plans for more than 150 acres of new terrain, adding about 20% to the existing ski area’s size. Known as the Pandora’s Expansion plan, the new terrain would be served by a new lift and covered by an expanded snowmaking operation.
Aspen Highlands offers one of the biggest verticals in North America (Snowmass has the biggest in the US), and both it and Aspen Mountain have plenty of expert terrain. Both also offer a range of expert terrain as well as impressive verticals, while Snowmass Village, located 12 miles away, gives skiers access to the most challenging black and double black diamond skiing in the area. However, the area is by no means limited to advanced skiers.
For beginners, Buttermilk ski area provides the perfect opportunity to practice your skills on a totally beginner friendly mountain.
This area truly has something to offer everyone!
