Montana’s exclusive private ski area, the Yellowstone Club, plans to add the second stage of a Doppelmayr built eight seat gondola as it completes a terrain expansion for the 2018-19 ski season. The first stage of the gondola was installed this season in its first expansion in a decade – since before the global financial crash.
The new Eglise area, which also features a fixed grip triple and a conveyor lift, has 17 groomed runs which Club Members have the option to name for a charity donation.
The member-only ski area, which is adjacent to Big Sky Ski area in Montana, already had 2,200 acres of what it describes as ‘private powder’ and more than 100 trails and that has now increased to 2,700 acres and what will be 18 lifts. Its members can also ski in to Big Sky’s terrain which mean they can ski in the largest ski area in the US and the biggest ski area in North America with a combined 8,500 acres of terrain and more than 400 runs. Whistler Blackcomb, the largest publically accessible ski area in North America, has 8,171 acres.
The Yellowstone Club’s members include Bill Gates, Justin Timberlake and Google founder Eric Schmidt with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg also recently buying a home in the area. Condos in the Yellowstone Club now cost from $4.9 million to $13.5 million and custom homes from $6.2 million to $19.5 million.
