Snow conditions are great in Canada and the US in North America this week, if anything some resorts are in danger of having too much snow as one extreme storm after another brings huge volumes of the white stuff.
The Pacific west coast is seeing particularly big snow accumulations with Mammoth (video below) reporting nearly 4 feet/1.2m in 24 hours as just part of its latest on-going super-snow-storm and Mt Baker hitting a 4m snow depth on its upper runs (another video below), the deepest in the world so far.
Mt Baker in Washington state, USA, has become the first ski area to report a base of more than 4m this season (409cm).
Most other ski resorts in Western North America have had big snowfalls too of 30-90cm in the past week.
The extra good news though is that it is still continuing to snow on the east side of the continent as well. Snowfall numbers are not as huge but they are still very good and mean ski slopes there are in great shape.
Resort Like Mont Ste Anne and Tremblant in Quebec for example posted 30-40cm of fresh snow in 24 hour reports on Wednesday January 4th.
