The end of the season is upon us at many Canadian and US resorts, although a good number will continue for a week or two more, and some stay open in to May, June or possibly even July.

There has been more fresh snow on the western side of the continent with powder alarms for 20cm+ of fresh snow for ski areas in BC, California and Colorado again in the last few days.

The biggest reported falls were in the northwest where the snow depth at Mt Baker in Washington State is at 6.5 metres now and ski areas on the west coast of BC reported 30-40cm of fresh snow in 24 hours to Thursday.

Elsewhere in the region most resorts have had some fresh snow, just not quite so much.

Most North American ski areas will close this weekend or the one after but a number like A Basin, Sunshine, Whistler, Killington, Lake Louise, Mammoth and Squaw Valley will be open at least in to May.
