Switzerland has been posting the world’s deepest snow bases for most of 2018 and as we enter May, Engelberg, which is open until the last Sunday of the month, still reports the snow lying 7 metres deep up top on its Titlis glacier – deeper than anywhere else on the planet.
Also open through May, and indeed the whole year, is Zermatt, which opens up Europe’s highest lift, a drag lift to 3899m, in the summer months.
The only other centres open in Switzerland, if you don’t include the snow play area up at the Jungfraujoch above Wengen and Grindelwald, is the Diavolezza glacier near St Moritz, which is reported to be open to May 6th this year.
