With the last of Austria’s non-glacier ski resorts closing on May 1st (along with some of those with glaciers), it’s down to the high altitude areas with year-round snow for skiing in to May and in some cases beyond.
The Hintertux and Dachstein glaciers aim to open every day of the years. The Dachstein currently reports the deepest base in Austria at over 5 metres while Hintertux has 57km of slopes still open.
Also open through May and looking good are the Stubai (in to June – pictured) and Kitzsteinhorn (in to July) glaciers.
And two more Austrian glaciers are open for at least part of May – the Molltal Glacier to the 13th and the Kaunertal for a further week to the 18th.
