From the first day of the season on 6 December 2018 to the last ski day on 7 April 2019, top-class winter events will feature on the Gardena calendar.
From 1 December 2018 to 6 January 2019, Val Gardena will be transformed into the ‘Christmas Valley of the Dolomites’. Numerous attractions will make Val Gardena even more charming in the pre-Christmas period: the Christmas village in Ortisei features about two dozen rustic Christmas huts, a ‘Magic Town’ will be set up for the whole family in S. Cristina with an alpaca petting zoo, and don’t forget about the ‘Mountain Christmas’ event in Selva Gardena. The sporting prelude is represented by the FIS Men’s Ski World Cup on the legendary ‘Saslong’ on 14 and 15 December 2018. From 27 to 30 December 2018, the snow sculpture competition in Selva Gardena will feature larger-than-life, splendid, artistic ice and snow sculptures.
Guests and locals welcome the New Year on 31 December 2018 with outdoor New Year’s Eve parties in all three Val Gardena villages. Sport, entertainment, and fun take centre stage during the Carnival period, featuring the Carnival Procession on 28 February 2019, and the Big Carnival Ski Show organised by the three traditional Val Gardena ski schools on 5 March. On March 10, the ‘Sun & fun’ time kicks off in Val Gardena with the Winter-Open Air Party on March 17 and the ‘Rock the Dolomites’ music festival between 16 and 24 March 2019. The festival will feature different bands performing across the mountain huts and après ski bars, getting you in the mood for the last ski days in the valley. Remember the highlight on 23 March: the Spring Race Party with fun ski races from Seceda to Ortisei. At the end of the season, the 23rd Sellaronda Ski Marathon will take place on 22 March, while the great, legendary highlight of the season, the Gardenissima, will once again demand you pull out all the stops and compete in the race of a lifetime. On 30 and 31 March, the South Tyrol Gardenissima 2019, will once again attract ski fans from all over the world to Val Gardena with its six kilometres making it the longest and best-known giant slalom in the world.
