What could be the UK’s 7th indoor snow centre could open in autumn next year, according to a spokesperson for Cool Runnings (NE).
The plans for the new facility on a seven acre site in the Middlehaven area of Middlesborough were announced some time ago and more recently there was an agreement for the new facility to be run by the team behind Snow Factor, which runs Scotland’s only indoor snow centre at Braehead.
The Cool Runnings spokesperson told the local Northern Echo newspaper that the company was waiting completion of a new road bridge and link road by the site to be completed in August before starting work on site with a 12 month construction schedule. In the meantime they are to seek full planning permission.
The complex will have a main slope and nursery slope and also house a soft play facility, both climbing wall and ice-climbing wall, indoor sky diving and trampolines plus a cafe, restaurant, and shops.
Cool Runnings believe the complex will bring 2.25m visitors to the area.
