British Snowboard Cross
Zoe Gillings-Brier clocked her best result of the season at the weekend, finishing in 9th position in the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain. Gillings-Brier qualified in 11th place on Friday and progressed easily through to finals on Sunday. Finals saw Gillings-Brier make it through to the small final where she finished 3rd, meaning she took 9th place overall.
She said after the finish: “I’m over the moon with today’s result. Over the last 3 years I have trained and competed on a skeleton schedule – it’s been hard seeing all the other athletes training and competing full time, but I’ve done the best I can in the circumstances. I also took time out to have baby Léa and now I’m back at 100%.”
Teammate Maisie Potter also put in the performance of her season: initially qualifying for Sunday’s final, and eventually finishing in 14th overall – her best ever result at this level.
GB Park and Pipe
GB Park and Pipe halfpipe skier Rowan Cheshire showed that she is back on top form, winning the Swiss Ski Halfpipe Championships this weekend. Teammate Murray Buchan took third in the men’s competition, just days ahead of the Freestyle Ski Halfpipe World Championships in Sierra Nevada. Cheshire and Buchan will be joined by Madi Rowlands, Molly Summerhayes, Pete Speight and Alex Glavatsky-Yeadon in the Ski Halfpipe qualifiers on Thursday, with finals on Saturday.
In the men’s Snowboard Slopestyle at the World Championships, Billy Morgan unfortunately didn’t land either of his two runs in the finals, eventually finishing in 13th position overall. He will now move on to the Big Air competition with teammates Jamie Nicholls, Matt McCormick, Rowan Coultas and Aimee Fuller. Qualifiers start on Thursday.
The GB Park and Pipe skiers are also in action in the Slopestyle competition at the World Championships this week. Fresh from his X Games Slopestyle Bronze medal, James ‘Woodsy’ Woods will be joined by Katie Summerhayes, Madi Rowlands, Isabel Atkin, James Woods, Tyler Harding, Cal Sandieson and Mike Rowlands in qualification which begins on Friday.

GB Park and Pipe Pathway snowboarders Billy Cockrell, Fin Bremner, Henry Shackleton, Glen Ironside, Gabriel Adams and Ethan Smith are competing at the Slopestyle and Halfpipe Europe Cup in Laax on Friday and Sunday.
Delancey British Alpine Team
Alex Tilley showed what she’s made of in Saturday’s Alpine World Cup Slalom in Squaw Valley, USA – finishing 20th overall. After qualifying into the second run in 21st place, Tilley moved up a place in run two, securing her first top 20 World Cup finish of the season. This was after Friday’s GS where she unfortunately didn’t progress through to the 2nd run.
Over in Are, Sweden at the Junior World Alpine Ski Championships, yesterday’s Ladies’ GS saw Darcie Mead finish as the strongest Brit, placing 44th overall. Just behind her was Jessica Anderson who finished 47th and Yasmin Cooper was 58th. In the team event, GBR (Anderson, Taylor, Mead and Raposo) were unfortunately knocked out in round one after a tough draw against Austria.
Billy Major unfortunately DNF run 2 in the Alpine Combined, but will be back in action today in the GS and tomorrow in the Slalom alongside Laurie Taylor, Robert Poth and Charlie Raposo. Yasmin Cooper, Jessica Anderson and Darcie Mead will all compete in today’s Slalom.
Dave Ryding is already in Aspen, Colorado ahead of the end of season finale – the Slalom World Cup Finals, which take place on Sunday 19th March.
British Nordic
After clocking Great Britain’s best ever Nordic World Ski Championship result in Lahti, Finland, finishing fourth in the 50km Free Mass start, Andrew Musgrave was competing in the Cross Country World Cup in Oslo this weekend, tackling the 50km Classic Mass start. With Classic his less favoured discipline, Musgrave finished 43rd overall. He will now travel with the rest of the British Nordic team to Canada for the next World Cup.
British Ski Cross
This coming weekend sees Pam Thorburn and Emily Sarsfield competing in the Ski Cross event at the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada. Qualification and finals both take place on Saturday. Emma Peters claimed fourth place over the weekend at the Swiss National Ski Cross Championships in Hoch-Ybrig.
Telemark
The GB Telemark team are heading to La Plagne, France this week for the Telemark World Ski Championships. Jasmin Taylor, Louis Hatchwell, Jasper Taylor, Sion Bingham, Alec Dixon and Naila Cardwell will all be representing, with action kicking off on Wednesday with the Parallel Sprint
