The unusual Carlsberg Toboggan Trophy is back in Engelberg, Switzerland this month.
Along with the tobogganing element of the race, competitors are also required to drink beer, sniff from a snuff machine and hammer nails in to a piece of wood as part of the fun team competition.
Officially named the Carlsberg Schlittel Trophy, participants need to get together in teams of four for what the resort describes as it’s “notorious” race, taking place this winter on 25th January.
“Great fun for you and your friends, our notorious toboggan race on Titlis involves a fair amount of drinking, sniffing and nailing, and is certainly not for the faint-hearted or the health-conscious,” said a resort statement.
The fine detail of the race are that before handing over your toboggan to the next member of your team, you must down your Carlsberg, take a deep sniff from the snuff machine and whack nails into a log.
The event kicks off at 4pm in the Titlis cable car valley station after an hour or so of pre-race ‘drinks and snacks’ at the Chalet next to the valley station. Celebrations continue after the race from 6pm with an award ceremony and party back in the Chalet with live music. In fact the after-race party is almost as legendary as the race itself.
Participation costs 30 Swiss Francs per person which including food and drinks and you must register by Tuesday 20th January.
