The Snow Train is Back!

This week, Inghams Ski launched their Eurostar Snow train packages for the 2024/25 season, providing a convenient and sustainable travel option to France. Operated by Eurostar, these packages—highly popular last year—serve the Val d’Isère, Tignes, and Les Arcs ski areas.

As a leading advocate for the revival of the original ‘Ski Train,’ which ceased operations due to the Covid pandemic, Inghams Ski has tripled their allocation of seats on the new Eurostar Snow train in response to high demand. Bookings open from 9th July 2024, with the train running from 21st December 2024 to 22nd February 2025, including half-term weeks. Departing from London St. Pancras to Bourg-Saint-Maurice with a single platform change at Lille, guests will enjoy a quick transfer to their chosen resort.

The Snow Train is Back!

Operating from Saturday to Sunday, the train offers a sustainable travel option and an extra day on the slopes. Traditional ski packages run Saturday to Saturday, but Inghams Ski provides seven-day lift passes for the price of six for those returning by train on Sunday. Instead of an early transfer on Saturday, customers can spend the day skiing and store their luggage in their hotel or chalet. They will be transferred on Saturday night to accommodation near the station in Bourg-Saint-Maurice for their return journey on Sunday morning.

John Mansell, Managing Director at Inghams Ski, stated:

‘There has never been a better time to visit the slopes by train. We’re delighted Eurostar has extended its snow train timetable this winter to include half-term dates, and we’re proud to expand our partnership for the upcoming season.

Train travel isn’t just a trend. Last year’s sell-out demonstrated real demand. Skiers care about the future of the mountains. Riding the rails through these landscapes is a captivating start to any ski holiday.”

Offering lower carbon travel solutions is central to our sustainability strategy as we aim to halve our emissions by 2030. Besides the Eurostar Snow train to Tignes, Val d’Isère, and Les Arcs, we launched train routes to 15 other resorts in three countries last season. This year, we’re expanding further, offering train travel to Morzine, Avoriaz, and more.

With a new government, we urgently need better support for inter-European train travel from the UK, including policies for pricing and infrastructure to make it more accessible beyond London and the South East.
