One of the world’s great dog sledding events, The Grande Odyssée VVF. has selected Megève in the Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc region of France, as the opening village for its 21st edition, with the grand departure set for 12 January 2025.

Renowned as one of the most demanding stage races in the world, the event will feature over 65 mushers from across the globe. These competitors, along with their canine athletes, will tackle 400 kilometres of challenging terrain, offering an immersive journey through the expansive landscapes of the Alpine arc.

This iconic event showcases the strong bond between mushers and their dogs, emphasizing teamwork and a shared passion for nature and the mountains.

“Spectators can cheer on the mushers from key vantage points along the route, experiencing a thrilling blend of wonder and adrenaline in a unique homage to the far north,” a Megève spokesperson said.

Besides the race, Megève is part of one of the world’s largest ski areas, with nearly 450km of slopes.
