A big part of any ski holiday is of course the fabulous Alpine food, but we all know it can be a little hit-and-miss as to whether we strike gold and find that fabulous fondue or terrific tartiflette or get unlucky and end up with a rubbish raclette.
Les Gets
The team at Chalet Sandy in the traditional alpine village of Les Gets, a key resort in one of the world’s largest ski regions, have worked very hard over the last decade to ensure that fantastic food, along with superb service, is at the heart of what they offer their guests, day-in, day-out, through the season, so it’s a win every night.
Chalet Sandy is not the usual operation from a large company employing gap-year chalet staff, but an owner-run business that provides a home-from-home environment in their luxurious, traditional chalet.
Chalet Sandy is perfectly positioned, perched opposite the mountain slopes, a short distance from the village centre.
Professional Team
Chalet Sandy’s team of professional chefs concoct unique tasting menus from their open kitchen five evenings per week. Their hosts serve a daily array of homemade breakfast and afternoon tea options before the main attraction – dinner!
Here the onus is always on high-quality dishes celebrating fresh local produce and combining skills such as fermentation, curing and ageing to capture and enhance flavours that take Chalet Sandy’s food to another level.
Exciting menus include influences and techniques from around the world and include homemade and aged vinegars, kombucha, miso, fermented vegetables, cured and smoked meats, fish and charcuterie.
The team forage for local herbs, plants, fruits and mushrooms, as well as using homegrown produce where possible and their dishes tell individual stories that celebrate a fusion of flavours from around the world.
Remarkably, all of Chalet Sandy’s dishes are served on unique, artisan pottery made by chef Duncan Green himself!
Chalet Sandy
The Chalet maintains an extensive list of exclusively French wines, many of them locally produced and organic, with a choice of over 40 different vintages, each hand selected and carefully paired with the varied dishes.
But it’s not just amazing menus, every meal is a special occasion and even breakfast includes a large variety of homemade choices including yoghurt, cereals and home-cured bacon and guests will enjoy a selection of homemade sourdough bread baked daily.
Beyond the fabulous food, Chalet Sandy’s team can arrange everything that you could need for a smooth, stress-free holiday, including Geneva transfers, lift passes, ski hire, ski lessons, shuttles to and from the slopes and even in-house childcare if required.
“Our main aspiration is to create and share our passion for good food and for our guests to enjoy a special, unforgettable culinary experience whilst enjoying a memorable ski holiday in the comfort of a beautiful Alpine chalet,” sums up Duncan Green.
