In this stunning movie, The Faction Collective pay homage to the Patrouille des Glaciers, the world-renowned ski-touring race through the Swiss Alps, from Zermatt to Verbier – the home of Faction.
Back in the 1940’s, Swiss Army captains Rodolphe Tissières and Roger Jean Bonvin had the idea to test their soldiers’ mettle by hosting a high-alpine foot race. They chose a route between Zermatt and Verbier — part of the famed Haute Route and the Patrouille des Glaciers was born. Now, over 80 years lated, the Patrouille des Glaciers is open to the public, pushing entrants to the limits of speed and endurance.
However, the Faction team were eager not to race, but to enjoy the route; to uncover the unique history of the event and explore the stunning mountain peaks along the way.
Starring Sam Anthamatten, Elisabeth Gerritzen, Yann Rausis and Anna Smoothy, Zermatt to Verbier charts the team’s human-powered journey along the route, and showcases skiing on spectacular freeride lines. Additionally, the film highlights the special history of the Patrouille des Glaciers through captivating interviews and archival footage.
Despite challenging circumstances, with Covid restrictions bringing about cancellations and forcing many events online, Zermatt to Verbier has been selected for a number of prestigious film festivals, including Kendal Mountain Festival, iF3, High Five Festival and the Winter Film Festival in Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
