There are some great snow conditions in Switzerland at present with healthy base depths across the country.
In fact Swiss resorts have reported some of the biggest snowfalls in the world over the past week or so, with a few areas in the east of the country reporting up to 3m/10 feet of fresh snow in 7 days.
Many other top name resorts including centres like Murren, Grindelwald and Wengen in the Jungfrau region have reported up to a metre (40 inches) of fresh snow.
So it’s the best start to the main ski season for at least four years, with snow reporting agency Snow-Forecast.com saying it’s the best for 21 years according to their data.

Engelberg currently has the deepest based in Europe at over 4.3m. Most resorts have 50-150cm at the base of their slopes, 150-250cm up top.
Conditions are generally excellent on groomed runs. Of piste powder is good too but the avalanche danger level remains very high at many resorts so it’s important to check and stay on the groomed runs if that’s the case where you are.
The sun is out now in most areas but more snow is forecast after Christmas.
