It’s been one of the snowiest weeks for quite a few seasons in the Swiss Alps with nearly all swiss ski resorts reporting 60cm (2 feet) of fresh snow, many 90cm (3 feet) or more and some more still.
The biggest accumulation claimed was 2.3m (7.6 feet) by Gstaad, believed to be for their Glacier 3000 ski area.
But resorts across the country have been posting it seems daily powder alarms for 20cm+ snow in 24 hours – and this past week it has sometimes been 60cm in 24 hours, on top of similar amounts in the previous and subsequent 24 hour periods.

The result is deep powder on most of the country’s slopes, from Villars in the West to St Moritz in the East, although off piste that translates in to the maximum avalanche danger.
Verbier (pictured top) reports its the snowiest start to the season in 20 years and its hard to imagine a better beginning to winter 2017-18.
