Telemorgins-Champoussin SA, the lift company which operates some of the ski lifts on the Swiss side of the huge Portes du Soleil ski region which straddles the French-Swiss border is dealing with financial problems which are threatening its operations.
“Telemorgins-Champoussin SA is in advanced negotiation with its main creditors: municipalities, canton and financial institutions. The Board of Directors wishes to reach conclusive agreements to ensure the company’s future and health,” a statement published online on the company’s website on Wednesday reads, continuing,
“Télémorgins-Champoussin SA is still waiting for answers from creditors. Once the situation has been clarified, a complete communication will be made via a dedicated website. The aim is to provide clear and precise answers to your many questions.”
The company says it needs to raise 1.8 million Swiss Francs (approximately £1.5m) in order to keep trading and had originally been given a deadline by creditors of 30th June to do so, but has now received an extension to 31 July to do so.
So far the company has raised more than 900,000 CHF (approximately £720,000) towards the target.
Donations can be made via this link (in French).
As a result of the financial issues the lifts will not be operating this summer for bikers, hikers and sight seers but the lift company stressed that the Portes du Soleil domain remains accessible from any resort of their region.
