After more than three years work, the Grande Motte cable car adopts a new look with its panoramic roof terrace and 360 degree views. Designed in Switzerland by Garaventa AG, it is equipped with state-of-the-art comfort and safety technologies. In addition to the capacity of the two cabins, which can each accommodate 100 people and carrying the equivalent of 1,000 people per hour in each direction, the new roof terrace is the biggest attraction.
Tignes boosts the world’s largest and highest open-top aerial cable car
From June 22nd, twenty people at a time can enjoy the luxury of a round trip ride on the rooftop of the new Grande Motte gondola, being the highest and largest in the world. It takes no more than 5 minutes for the cable car to climb and open its doors onto the Vanoise National Park, at 3,456 meters altitude. A great opportunity for both skiers and non-skiers to enjoy a breath of fresh air! It offers passengers a unique 360-degree view of one of the most beautiful panoramas in the French Alps, with views of Mont Blanc, the Cime de Bellecôte and the Aiguille de la Grande Sassière (3,747m).
Tignes is extremely proud to be able to offer to its clients this unique summer skiing experience at more than 3000m. This enterprise proves once again that Tignes is innovative by tradition. It underlines the unique attractiveness of the resort, even in summer, thanks to its glacier and suburb natural lake. Tignes has everything (for budding athletes or established champions) when it comes to the practice of sport and outdoor recreations. Explains Frédéric Porte, the new director of Tignes Développement.
