With the announcement that holidays to most of the countries that offer summer ski destinations without the need for people based in England to quarantine when they return from this coming Friday, 10th July, several tour operators have already announced they’re ready to go with holidays to the mountains, whether for summer recreation or for snowsports.
Decisions on when people in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will be able to travel to mainland Europe without quarantine are yet to be confirmed.
There are currently 10 glacier ski areas open in Austria, France, Italy, Norway and Switzerland including Zermatt, Hintertux and Tignes. Val d’Isere is open but closes at the weekend the day after the English rules change. Saas Fee opens for its nine-month season through to next spring 2021 then though.

The glacier has 30km of piste available in summer between 3200m and 3600m and is accessible to all levels, including a dedicated beginners area as well as a snow park with differing levels of jumps and tricks.
The conditions are reported to be particularly good this year, with the most snow in mid-June since 2013.
Peak Retreats are offering stays at the superior 3-star apartments at Au Coeur des Ours from £190pp for 7 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment (based on 4 people sharing a 2-bedroom apartment sleeps up to 6) including return Eurotunnel crossing.
The price is based on a holiday in the week commencing 18th July however for those who can leave sooner Au Coeur des Ours is also offering two weeks for the price of one for stays ending before 25/7/20 (lowest price week is free and cannot be combined with other offers).
