The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) has reported “a growing appetite for solo travel”, up 40 per cent between 2022 and 2023 with “a significant proportion opting to join group tours”.

Specialist solo ski holiday operators like Solos Holidays are adapting their programmes this winter to cope with increased demand, whilst other non-specialist operators are also noting the trend and emphasizing that they have the facilities and deals to attract solo travellers too.

“Solos is keen to challenge the assumption that solo travel is purely for singles. Regardless of age, ability, circumstance, background, gender – there really is something for everyone – especially on our exciting learn to ski trips,” a company spokesperson said, noting that later-life ski adopters are increasing common, adding, “It’s not just for those who have grown up with the sport. Solos Holidays offer a transformative holiday to introduce the great sport of skiing, complete with delicious food, vibrant Andorran culture and fun après-ski with an affordable price tag.”

Part of the package from most companies offering ski holidays for solo travellers is to ensure there are no extra costs associated with travelling on your own, with no single-room supplements a marked attraction.

For those travelling solo on beginner group ski trips, in most cases tour leaders work to keep the atmosphere fun, sociable and stress-free and have a clear understanding of how it feels to take that first ski leap. Solo travellers join a ready-made group of fellow enthusiastic newbies joining organised ski lessons with everything covered.

Solos Holidays are offering ski beginners weeks in Arinsal, Andorra departing 26 January and 09 March 2025 staying at the ski-in-ski-out  4* Yomo Patagonia hotel, with spa, sauna and hammam on a half board basis with wine, costs from £1,894 pp, this includes return flights and transfers, airport taxes, welcome drink, six day lift pass, five days ski school for three hours and an accompanying Solos tour leader.
