Snoworks – the all mountain ski course company, has launched a brand new course that will run on the glacier in Tignes, France, during the summer and autumn of 2018.
The course aims to provide a high level of technical coaching for skiers who want to improve their technical skills. Snoworks work almost exclusively during the winter months in what they call an ‘open’ environment where they have redefined ski teaching in environments that are constantly changing and where most skiers tend to struggle. The summer and autumn provide the perfect opportunity to develop technical skills in a more ‘consistent’ environment so skiers are ready to apply these skills when the winter arrives.
Director of Snoworks Ski Courses, Phil Smith, said: “Many years ago when we began the journey at Snoworks into all-mountain skiing we recognised the difference in coaching methodology for ‘open’ and ‘closed’ sports. During the winter months we are working more or less exclusively in ‘open’ environments with skiers – in the bumps, in off-piste, coping with ice and bad visibility, on steeper terrain.
We recognise that whilst many of our clients have achieved great results learning to perform in the ‘open’ environment they would also like to develop their technical skills to much higher levels. The best way to do this is to come out of the ‘open’ environment and invest in time pre-season.”
Courses run for 5 days, Monday to Friday with approximately 4 to 5 hours of instruction with a break for lunch. The minimum standard is that participants be skiers who can ski reds and blacks all day with a stop for lunch.
2018 Dates: July 2, 9 and 16 (summer courses) and October 15, 22, 29 and November 5, 12, 19 (autumn Courses).
Costs: £350 for the course. Accommodation packages are available, starting at £219 per person including half board on a twin occupancy basis in a 2 star chalet during the summer. Other options are available. Return Geneva Airport transfers cost from £110 return.
