British Snowboard Cross athletes Zoe Gillings-Brier and Maisie Potter are in action this weekend as Cerro Catedral,Argentina hosts back-to-back Snowboard Cross World Cup races from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th September.
Gillings- Brier will be joined by 20 year old Maisie Potter who claimed a top 5 position in the South American Cup held earlier this week in Corralco, Chile.
The two athletes will tackle qualification this Friday on the 1,000 metres long technical course as Cerro Catedral becomes the second ever resort in Argentina to organise a Snowboard World Cup event since 2009.
Following Friday’s timed qualifiers, they will be hoping to line up against the world’s best as they battle it out in Saturday’s and Sunday’s races.
This World Cup marks the first major event for Head Coach Guillaume Nantermod following his appointment earlier this summer. After an intense summer of training in Les Deux Alpes and Chile both athletes will be looking to make a strong start to their World Cup season ahead of the Olympic Winter Games in February.
