‘Snow Road’ Planned For Scottish Highlands

An optimistically titled new tourist route around the Scottish Highlands is being planned by Scottish tourism and enterprise bodies.

The ‘Snow Road’ will take in parts of Highland Perthshire and the Cairngorms, taking in several of Scotland’s ski area’s and Britain’s highest public road.

Along with signage and brochures money is being spent on an app which will help guide visitors along the route. There will also be pieces of public art located along the route which is being created with a budget of just over £300,000.

The idea for the road came from the success of similar designated ‘snow roads’ in Scandinavia and of a route known as the North Coast 500 that has opened in the North West Highlands and proved very popular.
