Do you want to enjoy a skiing holiday that is not only fun, but also eco-friendly?
Then you should visit the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental, a resort that combines amazing slopes, excellent ski schools, exciting activities, and cozy huts with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
The Vision
The SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental is the result of a cooperation between the mountain railway operators in the Brixental and the Wilder Kaiser, which started in 1977. Their vision was to create the largest ski area in Austria, and they achieved it with a lot of heart, soul, and investment. For more than 30 years, the SkiWelt was the largest connected ski area in Austria, and it also became one of the most modern and successful ski destinations in the world, thanks to groundbreaking projects such as Europe’s longest funicular, Europe’s first 8-seater chairlift, or the world’s first solar-powered lift.
Eco-Friendly Awards
But the SkiWelt is not only about size and innovation, it is also about caring for the environment. The SkiWelt has been operating exclusively with 100 per cent green electricity and snowmaking for many years, and it has won several awards for its environmentally-friendly ski operation, such as “The Telegraph World Snow Award” in 2017, or the title of “Most Environmentally Friendly Ski Resort” on skiresort.at in 2022. The SkiWelt uses natural resources wisely, such as the 17 natural storage ponds for snowmaking, which are filled by snowmelt, precipitation and springs, or the GPS system for the piste machines, which allows to measure and distribute the snow precisely where it is needed. The SkiWelt also uses renewable energy to heat its operational buildings, such as pellets, biomass, and heat pumps. And the SkiWelt harnesses the power of the winter sun, with photovoltaic modules installed on more and more buildings and lifts.
Getting There
The SkiWelt also makes it easy for you to travel to the resort in a green way, by train and bus. The Hopfgarten cable car is located right next to the railway station, which is also called “Skilift”. You can also take the ÖBB Nightjet from Hamburg, Düsseldorf or Amsterdam, and arrive at the SkiWelt in the morning, ready to hit the slopes. You can also use the ÖBB Winter Kombiticket, which includes the train ticket and the ski pass. And if you need a lift from the station to your accommodation, you can use the 4 Seasons Travel service, which picks up guests directly from the train.
The SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental is a resort that offers you a skiing holiday that is not only fun, but also eco-friendly. You can enjoy the amazing slopes, the excellent ski schools, the exciting activities, and the cozy huts, while also respecting the environment and reducing your carbon footprint.
