World-famous skiwear brand Colmar have continued their tradition of research and innovation to create another superb range of characterful clothing for on and off the slopes this season.
Colmar are consolidating the guidelines they laid down in previous years with their priority being exceptionally well-designed items of fully functional sportswear, based on years of research and continually improving performance.
Alpine and freeskiing are the two macro areas of action where athletes and skiers can count on a wardrobe full of ideas that can be layered and interchanged, and of warm, waterproof, technical and extremely functional garments.
Research and Evolution
This season more than ever, Colmar have been concentrating on research to create the best in skiwear. Key ingredients in this winter’s range are Teflon EcoElite™ and G+Graphene materials, which were first introduced to some items last season but have proved so popular and successful that they’re used more widely in the 2017/18 collection.
In fact, almost 90% of the range is treated with the Teflon EcoElite£™, which provides a very high level of waterproofing but is also highly sustainable because the treatment used is completely environmentally friendly while also lasting three times longer than previous methods.
With this great innovation, thanks also to the application of G+Graphene, Colmar continues its long history of research and evolution, creating a “back to the future” look in three classic jackets which have their design roots in the 1950s, 1980s and 1990s.
Classic Skiwear Made Better
The Guaina Zeno model (the historic jacket made for the famous Italian skier Zeno Colò) comes back to life again with modern lines and the exceptional G+Graphene lining.
The second jacket, the Technologic, is a reinterpretation of the legendary 1990s model. With its G+Thermocolmar filling, the warmth produced by the body is distributed evenly within the jacket’s lining and stored by the innovative filling.
Finally, the Bormio, an innovative jacket first presented at the World Championships in Valtellina in 1985, is made up of an extremely waterproof outer shell with a G+Graphene membrane, to further improve the conduction of heat and the wearer’s comfort, and an internal down jacket.
Winners Further Improved
Elsewhere in the Colmar range, last year’s highly successful Buckler jacket, which was a major winner in the prestigious ISPO Awards, is back with version 2.0 for 2018. The new edition has an inner shell complete with a front zip, making it even easier to wear.
Colmar’s range is now even more complete thanks to the development of a new outdoor section with multifunctional pieces to wear on all sporting occasions that can also be combined with the ski shells as an inner layer.
Many of these have Primaloft Gold Insulation inside them, a type of wadding that makes them even more technical, warm and water-repellent, obtaining the best results from the world’s best jacket filling.
New Season’s Colours
The colour palette of the whole collection combines bright shades (ginger, abyss blue and ice lemon for men; mineral green, deep purple and again ice lemon for women) with neutral tones such as grey, blue-black and cloud.
The brand’s DNA maintains its discreet presence on all the pieces with the functionality for which Colmar is most famous: always there but stylishly concealed in the important and necessary details, such as the extensible hood to contain the helmet, the removable down liner for when the weather is warmer, the roomy pockets which eliminate the need for cumbersome backpacks, the zip camlocks and the removable collars from the women’s jackets.
Finally, to confirm Colmar’s ongoing and ever-growing commitment to sustainable production, as well as the™ finish, all the fur used is synthetic and the Thermosoft wadding is made from 50% recyclable fibres.
