Monte Bondone is a great destination for skiers in its own right, or for a combined ski-and-city break, located only a 30 minute drive from the city of Trento, with great public transport or self-drive links.
Monte Bondone offers everything a skier needs as well as plenty for non-skiers to enjoy winter too.
The Ski Area
The ski area extends over 70 hectares with the 20 kilometres of wide, satisfying slopes entirely supported by a comprehensive snowmaking system and a fast, modern and comfortable lift network.
There are runs for all tastes and abilities including beginner slopes and classes and carving and steeper slopes for more experienced skiers and boarders.
Monte Bondone’s pride and joy is its “Gran Pista” slope, a red run which drops over 800 vertical metres during its 3.5km (over two miles) length, providing stunning views out over the Brenta Dolomites as you ski it. No surprise it has been named among the best 100 ski slopes in the world.
Night skiing is popular at Monte Bondone too thanks to a modern LED lighting system illuminating the slopes on two evenings each week. You’ll ski with a starry sky above and a sea of city lights from Trento before your eyes.
For the snowboarders and freestyle skiers there’s a well-equipped snowpark and ski tourers will find several challenging routes around the Three Peaks as well as a trail that reaches Palon from Vaneze with more than 800 metres of vertical.
At the base of the slopes Monte Bondone is a car-free haven with shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment all within walking distance of your hotel.
Family
The resort is well set up to deliver family-friendly ski holidays with special kids’ clubs, there’s also a Baby Boarder Cross for gentle fun. The local; ski school employs more than 50 multilingual instructors and there are five rental shops in resort too.
Non-Skiing Activities
There’s plenty to do besides downhill skiing and boarding as well. There are 37 kilometres of cross-country tracks slopes for both skating and classic style up on the sunny Viote Plateau.
Located at an altitude of 1,565 m, the area is a natural haven and popular for snowshoeing too, either on your own or in a guided group, with its woods, snowy meadows and unusual erratic boulders, under the magnificent natural amphitheatre of “Tre Cime del Bondone” above, mountains created from what were once ancient corals.
At the entrance to the area there’s a welcoming mountain hut and a sledging hill, so while children go wild on their sledges, adults can enjoy a few hours of sun, aperitifs and typical Trentino delicacies.
