Europe’s most southerly ski area of Sierra Nevada in Spain will stage it’s annual ‘Bañador‘ event this Saturday when skiers and boarders are invited to ski or board in their swimsuits.
The resort, only a few miles from the Mediterranean in southern Spain, had a slow start in terms of snowfall to the 2015-16 season, but has had several heavy snowfalls since mid-February and is now one of the few Spanish ski areas still open – it plans to operate through to May 1st.
Bañador 2016, the fourth time the event has been orgainsed, takes place this Saturday 23rd April with lift tickets discounted to just 17,25€ on the day. After events on the slopes the day winds up with a tropical fiesta in the afternoon in the heart of the resort
It is not clear whether Sierra Nevada intends to reclaim the world record for the ‘most skiers and boarders in swimsuits on the slope at one time’ which was taken by the Russian Olympic destination of Sochi a few weeks ago with ‘over 1000’ swimsuit clad snowsports fans a few weeks ago.
Sierra Nevada is easy to reach from London with direct BA flights top the nearby city of Grenada from London City.
