A mixture of sunshine and clouds last week in Switzerland and it looks like the same again for the week ahead.
The weekend has seen fresh snow however – with up to 20cm reported in the Gstaad region. That’s the sort of volume that it’s pretty easy for ski areas to cope with without needing to close roads and lifts.

Thus most leading Swiss ski areas have between 80 and 100% of their lifts operation and runs open at present.
Base depths remain extremely good almost everywhere after the huge January snowfalls but the deepest at 5.9m has dropped back below 6 metres as Engelberg sees its snowpack depth at the top of the glacier compact slightly from its 645cm peak.
