Western Italy has got snowy once again with half-a-metre of snow in Cervinia in the last few days and big snowfalls too in the Aosta Valley. Macugnaga has also had more than a foot of snow.
As usual for the time of year, now that spring is here, conditions are best on higher runs with lower slopes getting sticky later in the day.
Bases are however mostly good, particularly in the West, so should see ski areas through to the end of the season – which in most cases is now a month away.
Resorts in The Dolomites continue to have more limited cover but Cortina says it will stay open to May 1st, despite currently having a 15-50cm base. It has had a few inches of fresh snow though.
And more snow is forecast across Italy over the weekend. It’s snowing already in Courmayeur, below.
