Austria has been battling against spring as many of the country’s ski areas enter their final few weeks of winter 2016-17.
Bases are getting thinner across the country although there has been some snow on higher slopes in recent days – Ischgl and Obergurgl among the beneficiaries of 15-20cm of fresh snow, and there’s more forecast this weekend across the country.

Snow on the glaciers open to later in the spring and even resorts like St Anton which stay open to late April, early May or even longer looks good though with up to 3m/10 feet lying on the highest runs. St Anton has 60cm at resort level and 2.6m, on its higher slopes sop looks great for Easter.
Generally pistes are in soft to good condition, off piste is mostly heavy going at present.
