It will be possible to get to your ski resort accommodation from the new Scandinavian Mountains Airport by dog sled when it opens this winter.
The new airport, which will be served by direct SAS Airlines flights from London Heathrow is located 10 minutes from Sweden’s Salen ski area, with Norway’s Trysil 40 minutes away just over the border.
The trip to Sälen by dog sled towed by a team of 10 Alaskan huskies does take longer than the 10 minute trip by private transfer or a shared shuttle bus, and costs more at 4995 Swedish Kronor (about £420 at time of writing) per sled, which is also likely to be a lot more than the flight, but it is different.
“With the opening of Scandinavian Mountains Airport, we are looking forward to welcoming more guests than ever from the UK this winter,” said Mathias Lindström, Sales and Marketing Director at SkiStar, who added, “We’re particularly excited to offer the unique experience of a dog sled transfer to Sälen so guests can immerse themselves in the magical winter landscape as soon as they’ve stepped off the plane.”
The fee includes overalls, safety clothing, hat and warm shoes provided and flights from Heathrow commence. Flights from Heathrow commence on 28th December.
