Like the rest of the Alps, Italy’s highest glacier ski slopes have seen some fresh snow at the end of July, with a cold front bringing a dusting of the white stuff.
As last month, there are two ski areas in Italy open through August to choose from – Passo Stelvio and Cervinia (Pictured above) – linked to Swiss summer-ski centre and home of Europe’s highest ski lifts, Zermatt.
Passo Stelvio remains open and reports a 60 – 150cm base of packed powder, all six runs are reported open, and all six lifts operational.
At Cervinia its classic summer ski conditions – you need to be up early to make the best of the 60cm base, served by four lifts, by lunchtime each day it’s all over on the snow.
