The French summer ski season is on now with all three remaining French summer glacier ski destinations now open.

Val d’Isere was first to open – in the middle of June – and will be the first to close – in mid-July. The two larger summer ski destinations of Tignes (top) and Val d’Isere opened for the season on the last weekend of June and will be open all month.

It has been hot in the French Alps with double digit temperatures even at altitude, and there’s been no fresh snow reported since a significant fall of around 20cm – 30cm at the start of May, but conditions are none-the-les reported to be ‘good’ on the glaciers in the mornings.

Both Tignes and Les 2 Alpes (above) have large summer terrain parks for freestylers to enjoy.

Both resorts report a start-of-July snow depth of around a metre on their glaciers.
