French resorts are enjoying great conditions at present. After all the January snowfall the bases are very deep at most resorts and almost all of the country’s leading centres have 95-100% of their slopes open and lifts operating.
There has not been much fresh snow this past week in the French Alps, although ski areas down in the Pyenees have continued to report more snowfalls. Instead it is often sunny and cold so conditions are excellent.
There is still quite a high avalanche danger (level 2 or 3 out of 5) so it’s more important than ever to observe closed area signs and take local advice and guidance if heading off piste.
The week ahead looks to be similar with the possibility of more snowfall in some areas from the weekend as conditions become less settled.
