The French Alps got as dusting of snow on higher slopes in the last week of July.

Tignes, pictured above and a video below from July 26th, offer fresh snow to its glacier skiers.

But summer is back now and summer ski glacier conditions are more normal with a 7am start, the best skiing between 9 and 11, and closing at noon.

There’ll only be one France summer ski destination open for much of August – Les 2 Alpes.  It starts the month with a 65cm base and eight runs open graded blue and red, plus the terrain park.

Tignes says it’s will finish summer skiing earlier than usual this season – on August 6th – possibly connected to renovations of the Grand Motte cable car.

And the other French summer ski area above Val d’Isere finished its season last month.
