Saalbach Hinterglemm is working on an upgrade to its Zwölferkogelbahn gondola above Hinterglemm this spring and summer with the new 12er Kogel lift is due to go into service next winter.
The new lift will have 10 seat cabins and increase passenger carrying capacity on the route by almost 50%
SkiResort.info record that the old Zwölferkogelbahn was built in 1993 and took four minutes to make its ascent with a capacity of 2400 people per hour. That lift had, in turn, replaced single and double chairlifts on the route.
Saalbach Hinterglemm is by some measures the world’s largest operators of gondola type lifts with around 28 operating in its full linked area with Leogang and Fieberbrunn.
The resort will also start work on an additional snowmaking water reservoir, Hochalm II, this month. Due to be completed by October 2019 it will have a capacity of 251.300 m³ of water.
