Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau

The Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau ski area is one of the best family resorts in Austria, with unparalleled childcare facilities, excellent ski schools and a wide variety of ski runs for all abilities, all set amongst of some of Europe’s most beautiful scenery.

The area was created a few years ago when two of the most beautiful ski valleys in the Alps, Alpbachtal and Wildschönau, were connected by a modern lift-link, after 50 years on separate sides of a mountain ridge. Thus, the Ski Juwel was born and would quickly become one of the largest ski areas in the Tirol.

However, though it’s one of the region’s largest resorts, it enjoys a much more relaxed atmosphere than some of its similarly sized but perhaps more famous neighbours.

This explains why the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau is such a firm favourite amongst families, with a super friendly atmosphere and fantastic facilities for younger skiers. Two ski kindergardens are available for smaller children, while those that want to try their hand at skiing can enjoy expert instruction at one of the five local ski schools.

Even the terrain in Ski Juwel is perfect for families, with the majority of runs are rated blue or red – an ideal destination for those who are still developing their ski skills. The Snowpark Alpbachtal and Family-Park Schatzberg have easy, highly entertaining beginner lines with small jumps and obstacles.

More experienced skiers will love exploring the area’s challenging black runs and extensive freeride routes, or any of the three snowparks available.

The only problem you’ll have here is deciding which of the area’s charming resorts to stay in. You’re truly spoilt for choice, with all resorts in the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau offering an authentic Tirolean charm and spectacular mountain vistas.

For the best views in the region though, don’t miss the mountain hut below the summit of the Wiedersbergerhorn, the highest point in the area at 2127 metres above sea level.

All-in-all there are more than 20 restaurants and huts in the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau, serving delicious local delicacies to fuel your days on the slopes.
