Located high in the Italian province of Lombardy, Livigno, with its 115km of pistes and a base at 1,816m, is one of the most snow-sure resorts in Europe. In fact, it is known by the locals as Little Tibet because of its immense snowfall and long season. A deal made when Napoleon ruled the area has left the resort duty-free, making it one of the most affordable in the Alps to visit. Today, there are more than 250 shops there to peruse.

Ski Free:

Livigno offers a rather enticing deal when you visit at the start or end of the season. Up to 21 December 2018 (Christmas week) and after 6 April (so that includes the 2019 Easter holidays) you can claim a completely free lift pass. To qualify you need to stay for at least four nights in a participating hotel or seven nights in a participating apartment and book through the resort’s website: livigno.eu/en/.

Top of the Taste Buds:

There are about 100 restaurants in Livigno, but La Tea da Cip e Ciop tops the TripAdvisor tables with 81% of over 200 reviewers rating it as excellent and another 16% “very good”. Why so good? The views, the value, the staff and the bombardinos are all highly praised, but the food tops them all.

Get the Local Know How on the Freeriding:

Livigno has gone big on freeriding, organising international competitions and marking out freeride routes. But safety is a top priority and every Sunday from 5.00pm to 7.00pm the resort organises meetings at the Birrificio (brewery), where freeride experts provide you with all the necessary information about the rules to respect and the materials necessary for your safety, including a shovel, avalanche transceiver and probe, to carry with you at all times.

A Mootastic Dairy with a Difference:

The Latteria, located in Via Pemont, close to Livigno´s beautiful lake, is a bespoke facility that allows you to not only see the entire milk transformation process at work but also enjoy tasting all of the delicious finished products. There is also an exhibition area where visitors can learn about the fascinating history of local agriculture.

Slopes of Street View:

Livigno was one of the first resorts to have its ski runs mapped out on Google Street View, so you can see before you ski at: livigno.eu/en/streetview

Sample the Aqua Vita:

At the Aquagranda Livigno Wellness Park the emphasis is on pure indulgence for body and soul. At the heart of this thoroughly modern sports club and spa you can treat your senses and pamper yourself.
