After record snowfall, Park City, Utah extends its ski season until 23rd April
Just 35 minutes from Salt Lake City international airport, the ski town of Park City , after a season of record snowfall has extended its ski season. Home to two world class ski resorts, Deer Valley and Park City Mountain, their respective closing dates have been extended to 16th April and 23rd April.
While many Europoean ski areas have had below average snowfall, the opposite has been the case in Utah. Park City and the other ski resprts of Utah, opened with a bang in November and by January 11th had surpassed the long term annual average for snow. Since then, pulse after pulse of snowstorms have hit the Wasatch Mountains, leaving base depths arount the 3 metre mark.
With Deer Valley on the IKON pass and Park City Mountaing on Vail Resorts’ EPIC pass, their customers are getting immesnse value for money this season. The combination of ownership of one of these passes and the perfect snow conditions has led to a surge of lodging bookings, including many late bookings, at the time of year when many Amercan skiers choose to put away their skis.
Megan Collins, International Marketing Manager, says,
“We have had a very snowy winter in Park City and there is still a lot of time to travel to Winter’s Favorite Town. April offers lower season rates and less crowded slopes, so with the extension of Park City Mountain’s skiing/riding season through Sunday, April 23 and Deer Valley Resort being open through Sunday, April 16, there is still time to enjoy a winter holiday.”
British skiers seeking a late trip to take advantage of these record breaking conditions, can do so with ease. Delta Airlines flies non-stop fron London Heathrow to Salt Lake City, and from there it’s just a short ride to the snow.
