Nestled in the Southeastern region of the breathtaking Alps, Slovenia’s picturesque setting and alpine heritage makes it the ultimate destination for active adventure.

As well as being home to some of Europe’s most affordable ski resorts, Slovenia is a hub for active adventure all year round. From canyoning across waterfalls to paragliding over the Upper Sava valley, there are plenty of ways to get an adrenaline fix outside the ski season. Experience the steepest zipline in the world

Experience the steepest zipline route in the world at the Planica Nordic Center, where the Planica Zipline runs down the world’s biggest ski jumping hill. With the line 566m long, this epic adventure reaches speeds of up to 90km/h in just a few seconds. If you’re able to, take in the stunning views which surround you, stretching out across the nearby Kranjska Gora.

Paraglide in tandem over the Vipava Valley

Take off from Kovk above Wajdušna and fly over the Vipava valley with an experienced instructor for the ultimate in-air adventure while taking in views of the Adriatic Karst and Sea on the horizon. You don’t need any previous flying experience for a tandem flight, but courage, walking boots and suitable clothing to protect you from the wind are advised.
Tandem dives €130 per person, lasts 2-3 hours.

Cave your way through an underground wind tunnel

Travel underground through the depths of the Predjama cave system, home to the world’s largest cave castle. In the tunnel you’ll get the chance to experience a giant natural wind tunnel, as well as narrow passages and challenging climbs – the ultimate caving adventure!

Try white water rafting in the Soča Valley

Canyon across waterfalls

Canyon over Slovenia’s Pršjak and Sušec streams where you will be required to negotiate narrow canyons, slide down waterfalls and jump into crystal clear pools up to ten metres below. Climbers, swimmers and hikers are perfectly suited to this adventure fusion which combines all three skills!

Kayak underground through the Krizna cave

Explore Slovenia’s underworld by kayak by making your way through the Krizna cave’s emerald green, subterranean lakes and magnificent Karstic chambers. Travel 700m underground where you can even take your bike and cycle through Krizna’s chambers. This world-renowned water cave features 22 underground lakes, diverse animal species and archaeological remains.

Mountain bike underground through a disused mine  

Mountain-bike with a difference through the Koroška region, deep underneath the majestic Mount Peca. Take your bike through the disused mine in Mežica, travelling 700m underground and 5km from one valley to another. The holes and bumps of former railway sleepers make it all the more exciting. Be sure to wear warm clothing, biking gloves, a helmet and headlamp. Adventures last around 2.5 hours. Tours from €70, including hotel pick up, equipment and guide.

Climb the Julian Alps on the Alpe Adria Trail

The Alpe Adria trail is a mighty 750km summit to sea experience which traverses the borders of three countries, from the foot of Großglockner in Austria (3,798 m/12,460 ft.) via the Slovenian to the Italian Adriatic coast. Hike deep into national parks and biosphere reserves while climbing to peaks such as the 5,285-foot Vršič Pass in the Julian Alps. You can split the route in as many parts as you choose, making this accessible for a range of walking abilities.

Hike through Slovenia’s longest mountain range

Slovenia has some of Europe’s most breathtaking hikes at its fingertips and the Karavanke Alps, Slovenia’s longest mountain range, is among the best. Wind your way through picturesque mountain pastures, deep valleys, and stunning gorges. Along your way, take in views of cascading waterfalls, diverse mountainous plant species and preserved cultural heritage. A must see along the way is the Logar Valley, famous for its waterfalls like the 90-metre Rinka Falls!

Experience Europe’s only capital city SUPping adventure
