The Chamonix Valley enjoys excellent spring snow conditions with frequent powder days and great high altitude skiing (90% of ski areas being located above 2000m). The Grands Montets offers skiing up to 3300 m and remains open until early May.
Spring evokes milder conditions, longer days and quieter slopes, perfect for enjoying extended mornings on the pistes, relaxed lunches and sunny terraces! It’s also the ideal time to experience ski touring or famous off-piste itineraries, such as the 20km Vallée Blanche!
The Chamonix Valley also offers a multitude of non-skiing activities and not least the unmissable Aiguille du Midi (highest cable car in Europe) with its Step into the Void or the Montenvers-Mer de Glace cog railway (both included in the lift pass). Also included in the pass are ice rinks, covered swimming pools, spa and keep-fit facilities, alpine museums, exhibition centres, and the thrilling Boarder Coaster luge.
The vibrant historic town centre proposes an attractive array of boutiques, a wonderful market on Saturdays, a wide choice of restaurants from Michelin Stars to traditional Savoy specialities, and many lively night spots featuring local groups and international jazz and jam sessions! If you prefer the quiet life or like to go backcountry, you will find that the Chamonix Valley comprises many charming traditional hamlets. Enjoy scenic trails or delightful forest walks to discover hidden treasures and when weary, hop on the panoramic valley train, which is also free of charge!
