Les Gets is one of our favourite mountain destinations because it’s got so much to offer in both winter and summer months. For families in particular, there’s a huge amount of entertainment and education available and with chalet operators such as Chalets1066 operating throughout the summer to make your stay as seamless as possible, it’s a chance for mum and dad to get some well needed R&R.

Here, we’ve put together our top family activities this summer in Les Gets:

On Wheels

One of the world’s top mountain biking destinations, Les Gets has a fantastic bike park and a vast range of biking trails. With top tier training facilities for all abilities, right down to the youngest beginners, it’s the perfect place for budding young bikers. Specialised infrastructure has been designed and developed with the young in mind, including a kid zone, mini jump park and coaching track.

In Les Gets, children aged 5-14 can give also electrical trail biking a go. This can be done on a secure, enclosed circuit, with lessons available.

With the Portes du Soleil Multipass, it has never been easier to access so many fun mountain activities. For €2 per day, this pass offers unlimited use of the lift network throughout the whole area, as well as a variety of other activities. In Les Gets, these include the swimming lake, the mechanical music museum and the popular tourist train while throughout the area the pass provides access to 4 swimming pools, 2 lakes, 9 tennis centres, 2 ice rinks, 5 cultural sites, 3 tourist trains and 800km of hiking routes!

On Water

Hands down our top choice for family fun is the “Wibit Park Des Gets”. Located at the Lac des Ecoles, bouncy inflatables create a unique and hugely entertaining play area floating on the water. Open every day throughout summer, the area includes 30 inflatables, including slides, a water trampoline and a human catapult! Suitable for adults and children from 6 years upwards.

Up In The Trees

Another must-visit is the Les Gets Aventure Parc®. A firm family favourite in the area since 2001, this park offers more than 86 games over seven courses. Activities such as the Pont de Rondins, giant step, Tarzan leap and many more will be sure to have you laughing as you swing through the tops of the trees. The park is perfect for adventurous children but with a range of different routes and activities, adults and children alike are guaranteed to enjoy themselves and get that adrenaline pumping! With a team of qualified monitors in attendance throughout and the highest standards of safety equipment, you know you are in good hands here and can enjoy the experience to the utmost!

Down In The Town

From the 6th to the 19th of August, the village of Les Gets will become a giant concert venue for the Lounge Music Festival, with chilled and relaxing music permeating the air. Over 40 free concerts will be taking place throughout the village, with audiences able to go from one to the other throughout each afternoon and evening, taking in genres from jazz to reggae. For children, musical workshops will be held, inspiring and engaging them with the melodic nature of the moment.

To add a charming nostalgia to your holiday, visit the oldest original wooden merry-go-round open to the public in France. Built in 1871, the merry-go-round is now back in operation after two years of restoration work and is always a popular experience for adults and children alike.
