When we think of large ski areas, we usually don’t think of Austria, but Austria has some large areas too, and this winter there’s a new largest ski area in Austria: Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn.

The name may be a bit of a mouthful (although you can just use ‘Skicircus’ for short), but then so is this huge ski area which has been independently verified as having 270km of piste, the most in Austria. Thanks to the arrangement of the slopes you can ski on and on all day, following the sunshine, without needing to ski the same run twice.

Thanks to massive investment, year after year, you can also get back up the slopes quickly and comfortably too as Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is in the world top five for the number of gondola lifts and high speed, high capacity chairlifts it operates.

Taking the ‘Largest in Austria’ title this winter is the result of a new lift and piste connection between Saalbach Hinterglemm and its smaller neighbour Fieberbrunn. The two areas have been linked by a single 10-seater single gondola in a project called “TirolS – 2 states, 1 lift” as it not only links the two ski areas, but also for the first time the Austrian provinces of Tirol and Salzburg.

The result is an amazing ski area which is not only the largest in Austria but also offers a rich variety of terrain for all abilities and tastes.
