The last month has been crazy! With training at my favourite park in Austria Absolut Park in Flachau, I linked up with GB Park and Pipe to film my ‘Day in the Life’.
After Austria I flew to Sweden for my first ever WST Big Air Contest. I had never competed in Big Air before so was really excited to try it out. Sweden was a new country for me so travelling there and experiencing some of the culture was great. I flew into Gothenburg and then competed just 30 minutes outside at the resort of AleBacken. I was so impressed at the love of snow sports and the support we had over there. With over 14,000 spectators it was time to put on a show. I landed my 2nd run, which put me into 2nd position. My first podium of the year and my first ever Big Air.
From Sweden I flew back via London and straight out to South Korea. I arrived over a week ago for the Pre-Olympic Test event. It’s crazy how quickly time has flown since Sochi, and now we are already getting ready for the next Games. Flying into Korea with no real expectations, from the minute we landed we were greeted by smiling faces and friendly people. The Koreans are excited to be hosting in 2018 that’s for sure. We headed up to PyeongChang County and rode the resort of Bokwang Phoenix Park “보광 휘닉스 파크”
It was amazing to see the course and the setting for the first time, this is something we didn’t get to do in Russia, due to the event being cancelled the year before the Games. However the Koreans are well ahead in preparation, having put together this fantastic course 2 years out from the Games.
The World Cup took place on Friday, with 28 girls competing. It was a strong field with riders from all over, Australia, Olympic Gold Medalist Jamie Anderson from the USA, Norwegian, Korean, Japanese to name a few! The whole crew were in town, excited to scope the location for the Olympics in 2 years’ time.
To find out how Aimee finished, what she cooked in the local markets and to see more pictures of the course head over to CaxtonFX
