Founded in 1972 by Lino Dainese, Dainese produces advanced protective wear for motorcycling, mountain biking, winter sports and equestrian use. In 2007, the company acquired premium race- and sport-helmet manufacturer AGV, and in 2015 it acquired premium winter sports and cycling protective-gear brand POC. Dainese, AGV and POC products showcase some of the most innovative technologies in dynamic sports developed and used by the world’s top athletes.
During its 40-year history, Dainese has become one of the leading brands in the production of protective gear for dynamic sports. Dainese did not only limit itself to the motorcycle world: already starting from the early ‘90s, the company committed to introducing the first protectors in other sports as well, such as MTB, skiing, snowboarding, and horse riding.
Flexagon is Dainese’s latest back protector construction technology and is the most ergonomic and advanced design to date. This is the result of extensive research into the movement of the human body, which is always at the root of all our products. The whole surface is a pattern of hexagonal soft protective tiles in Crash Absorb® memory foam bonded together in a resistant breathable mesh fabric. Each tile has a degree of freedom to move over all axis so the overall construction perfectly traces the contour of the back and follows it in all its movements like it was a protective second skin.
With Flexagon, Dainese has finally engineered a structure that can adapt and replicate concave or convex curved shapes. Just think about how the flat hexagonal elements of a football are stitched together and can form a perfectly spherical shape. The construction of the spine protection allows it to become a form-fitting garment, no longer made up of multiple off-the-shelf elements that are simply inserted in a pocket. Flexagon is spine protection certified at the highest rate (level 2) and the two independent overlapping layers are sandwiched together bridging all gaps for perfect coverage.
