British Olympian Charlie Guest has officially launched the new store of Perthshire’s largest independently owned outdoor clothing, equipment and accessories retailer, Craigdon Mountain Sports in Perth.
The new store on Scott Street is the latest for the group that has been trading in Scotland for 25 years and sells a range of products from the industry’s top manufacturers such as Rab, Haglofs, Salmon, Atomic and many more coupled with a vast range of footwear, camping equipment and rucksacks.
Charlie, who originally comes from Perth, is a Scottish World Cup alpine ski racer specialising in slalom, has competed in the World Ski Championships and was also part of Team GB in the 2018 winter Olympics. Scottish skiing coach and one of Great Britain’s most successful downhill skiers, Finlay Mickel, also popped by to offer his support.
Karla Mason, owner of Craigdon Mountain Sports Perth, bought the original Perth store in 2014 after working for its previous owners for 12 years, combining a passion for skiing and outdoor sports with a retailing career spanning twenty years, working with major multiples including B&Q. The new store on Scott’s Street is a move by the retailer to offer customers a superior shopping experience.
“We’re delighted Charlie has been able to help us launch our new store which aims to offer our customers a more superior shopping experience in a more relevant retail space,” said Karla, who added, “We are proud to be Perthshire’s largest independently owned outdoor clothing and equipment store and as a local girl herself, it seemed fitting that Charlie should be involved in the launch, particularly with our range of specialist ski equipment and clothing on offer.”
“We have some really exciting plans for the future including launching a new look e-commerce website, offering ski touring courses this winter and will continue to be more specialised with our ski and walking boot fitting service.”
Craigdon Mountain Sports also has stores in Inverurie, Aberdeen, Inverness and Edinburgh.
