Viet Nam has joined the list of 80 or so countries where you can go skiing, and indeed the shorter list of 30 or so countries where you can ski any day of the year, thanks to the opening of it’s first indoor snow centre.
Snow Town has opened in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as and still also referred to as Saigon) is reported to have already attracted hundreds of families keen to escape the outdoor heat and to be particularly popular with teenagers.
The centre, built by the Phước Thành Construction Company, is located on the third and fourth floors of CBS Premium Homes in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2 around 30 minutes from the city centre and covers an area of 4,000 square metres.
Activities offered include skiing, boarding and tobogganing on a short slope and making snow sculptures. Two-hour private skiing or snowboarding lessons are offered subject to availability and each visitor receives a jacket, boots and a toboggan.
“I’ve never seen snow before. Climbing up the snow hill and then sliding down is the most awesome experience! Oh, and I love when snow flakes fall from the roof. It makes me feel as if I’m in a mini winter wonderland!” one child told local media.
Viet Nam follows fast on the heels of the larger Ski Egypt indoor scow centre which opened at the start of March, with a slope of around 200 metres in length plus, they say, the world’s largest indoor snow play park. Ski Egypt has been created by the company behind Ski Dubai.
