With February half term almost upon us, tour operators and ski holiday travel agencies are saying there are still deals out there, although you may have to accept what’s still available rather than being too choosy at this point!
“Half term still has some availability, but the last minute discount market is not there anymore, as all operators have much smaller inventory than pre-covid,” explains Richard Sinclair, boss of ski holiday travel agency sno.co.uk, who adds, “Most availability is not for the 11th, but for the second half-term week, departing 18th, which includes schools in parts of the north and in Wales. There are still bargains to be had, especially if you don’t need a massive ‘signature’ resort.”
Deals for departures this Saturday the 11th do still, appear to exist however. Chalet holiday operator Ski Beat says it has reduced a week’s stay over half term, arriving 11th February, by £300pp, or by £400pp the following week, with accommodation at their brand new Chalet K120 (pictured below), which they describe as “a stunning, spacious Alpine property in the centre of Courchevel Le Praz”.
It’s now £1837pp (was £2137pp) from Manchester or if you travel a week later from Gatwick on 18th February, the price drops to £1142pp (was £1542pp), saving £400pp. Prices include return flights, transfers, and chalet hosts to prepare, cook and serve breakfast, afternoon tea and three course evening meals with unlimited wine.
Of course guests will be in prime position to watch the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships (6 – 19th February) currently underway in the resort.
Some last minute deals have also been launched by specialist travel agent Skiline that include discounts ranging from £150pp to around £750pp.
They include an almost half-price cut at the Chalet Corniche, Tignes from Feb 18th down from £6,980 to £3,954 (a saving of £3,026) based on 2 adults and 2 children (aged 5 & 8) in two x twin rooms. The holiday is catered and includes Gatwick flights and transfers.
Or the four star catered Chalet Java in La Plagne, France, which sleeps 12, has a sauna and is only 100m from the piste has two places left for the week from this Saturday 11th February, reduced from £1,149pp, to £799pp, saving £350pp, but that excludes travel you’d need to work out yourself,.
