Norway has a strong reputation as a snow-sure destination for skiers and it’s also known for its modern lifts, great terrain, friendly locals and increasingly as one of the best-value ski destinations in Europe. It’s also just a short hop away, across the North Sea, with new flight routes making it easier than ever to get there!
The extra good news is that one of Britain’s leading ski holiday companies, Inghams, is now offering holidays to three of Norway’s top resorts: Voss, Myrkdalen and Narvik.
“Norway is a new addition to our programme, and as a snow-sure destination, we’re excited to be selling it,” an Inghams spokesperson commented.
Inghams are already selling ski holidays for 2025/26 so there’s plenty of time to plan your Norwegian ski adventure once you’ve secured your booking. You can also though, already travel with Inghams to Voss and Myrkdalen this winter 2024/25, with holidays beginning in January 2025. Northerly Narvik is a new Inghams destination for 2025/26.
The new choices expand on Inghams existing and highly popular Scandinavian offer. The company has long specialised in Lapland, offering the resorts of Levi, Ylläs and Saariselkä in Finland too. These ski centres not only offer great skiing but lots of other brilliant winter activities as well, such as snowmobiling, husky sled rides, reindeer safaris and snug overnight stays in a glass igloo to take in the northern lights dancing above. You can even meet Santa at his home during your stay.
But Inghams’ three great new Norwegian resort choices are set to make the choice even better.
Vibrant Voss
Voss has long been a favourite destination for British skiers. With 40km of slopes divided into two dozen runs served by 11 lifts, it’s in a stunning location between two of Norway’s largest and most beautiful fjords, Sognefjord and Hardanger. The town itself has a vibrant culture, with cosy cafes, bars and restaurants providing delicious cuisine and a lively après-ski scene.
Boasting one of the best snowfall records in Scandinavia, there are runs for all abilities here from, first-timers to the most experienced with a SuperG course to whizz down and some good freeriding terrain too. For freestyle skiers and boarders, Voss boasts a terrain park with a big jump and half pipe, plus a boardercross nearby.
Myrkdalen The Powder Haven
Myrkdalen has built a reputation as Norway and Scandinavia’s powder capital, often posting the deepest snow in the region. Located in an exciting landscape of fjords and valleys, Myrkdalen itself is a welcoming village with a very relaxed atmosphere not far from Voss in Western Norway. There’s a good selection of welcoming cafes, bars and restaurants and accommodation is available with ski-in, and ski-out access.
There’s skiing and boarding for all tasters and abilities here. The powder obviously is a big draw for freeriders, but this is a family-friendly ski area too, with 32km of wide, uncrowded slopes suited to everyone from beginner to expert level. Novices have their own learning area then lovely gentle blue runs to progress onto.
Northerly Narvik
Narvik lies within the Arctic Circle in the far north of Norway. It’s an important harbour town, so far north you can meet the local Sami people living here. For skiers though, Narvik is one of the most spectacular ski locations on earth, with slopes running down towards a stunning coastal vista of sea and fjords. Recent investment in some swish new lifts has made the area’s operations state-of-the-art too and the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) chose it to host the Alpine World Ski Championships in 2029. Thanks to its northerly location it’s so snow-sure it stays open into May and also a great place for the best chance of seeing the northern lights.
There are ski runs here for all abilities, with a brilliant area designed for children, families and beginners, that includes games to encourage children to improve their skills., Experienced skiers will enjoy one of Scandinavia’s biggest vertical drops, great freeride terrain and those jaw-dropping views.
Narvik offers a good range of cafes, bars and restaurants with different cuisines on offer. The resort also offers some lively evening venues as well as more relaxed lounge bars if you prefer a quieter night.
